Sviluppumbria with UmbriaLibri: culture as a driver for social development and the economy

08 October 2021

After Friday's inauguration, on Saturday 9 October the meetings at UmbriaLibri 2021 continued in the Monumental Complex of San Pietro as part of the 27th edition of the publishing and cultural event promoted by the Umbria Region.

“UmbriaLibri is a great celebration of those who write, edit and read books and demonstrates once again that there is a lively, attentive and intelligent local publishing industry and above all one of excellence in production," said Paola Agabiti, Culture Councillor for the Umbria Region, at the ribbon-cutting ceremony. "We can say that we are once again breathing that atmosphere that has, since its inception, distinguished this event. This event is strongly linked to its Umbrian roots, but capable of intercepting the novelties of the moment and delving into relevant topical issues".

Michela Sciurpa, President of Sviluppumbria, speaking at the inauguration of UmbriaLibri, thanked those present and the institutions, noting that the Agency had been appointed as organiser by the Umbria Region. An excellent teamwork shared with Councillor Paola Agabiti Urbani, the University of Perugia and with the scientific contribution of Prof. Alessandro Campi. "It is a source of joy and satisfaction for me to contribute to the realisation of an event which focuses on #women as active protagonists of social, economic and cultural life," said Dr Sciurpa. This year, UmbriaLibri, returns with an "in person" edition of the Umbrian publishers' exhibition, for which Sviluppumbria was entrusted with the set-up, making a tangible contribution to an important sector of the regional economy with the hope of revitalising relations between local publishers and the public.
