PRESS RELEASE Collaboration between Sviluppumbria and the Municipality of Perugia

02 April 2021

Start of a new partnership between Sviluppumbria SpA and the Municipality of Perugia

Three main areas for cooperation were identified during the meeting between Councillor Gabriele Giottoli and President Michela Sciurpa:

  • tourism
  • internationalisation
  • European projects.

"For tourism promotion, the Municipality of Perugia is currently completing an innovative project for the creation of a new app with augmented reality for the enhancement of the city's historical and natural itineraries that promote food and wine, craftsmanship and production excellence, encouraging their original use by the post-Covid 2.0 traveller”. In order to enhance the project, said Councillor Giottoli, “we are counting on Sviluppumbria's expertise to support us in launching the App by organising dedicated press tours, with particular attention to itineraries that include outdoor experiential routes. I consider the collaboration with Sviluppumbria,” concluded Giottoli, “strategic for the relaunch of the territory through the provision of tools suitable to support the internationalisation of enterprises on the one hand and to strengthen the capacity of municipalities in the field of European projects on the other.”

“The collaboration will also involve the Perugia-Trasimeno axis, thanks also to the Union of Trasimeno Municipalities, which have immediately shown their interest,” stated President Giulio Cherubini, “in the construction of a single territorial area for the development of unitary economic policies".

"Sviluppumbria's strategic repositioning, outlined in the agency's new three-year plan recently approved by the Assembly of Shareholders, creates a structure that is increasingly open and integrated with all the key players in local economic development," commented Michela Sciurpa. "In order to respond to the central role entrusted to it by the Region of Umbria, the new Sviluppumbria listens to the needs of local areas, encourages the creation of networks, and facilitates complementarity and synergies between local public and private actors. We are therefore enthusiastically beginning to collaborate with the Municipality of Perugia in the three main areas of action identified together with Councillor Giottoli for the economic revitalisation of this vast regional area.”
