To mark the launch of a new guide to the St. Francis Way, and at the invitation of the institutions and associations of the Municipalities of Pietralunga, Gubbio and Spoleto, experts from Sviluppumbria took part in a series of meetings presenting in depth the state of the Via di Francesco route, its potential for tourism enhancement and its coordination with the network of paths and cycleways of the Umbria Region in the Network of Ways and in the Network of Alternative Mobility.
The meetings on the St. Francis Way aim to be an opportunity for the institutions and different local actors to discuss a local integratedtourism offer, based on the concept of sustainability and new tourism designed for those who are looking for experiences of authenticity, traditions and good living.Meetings have already taken place with a high participation of tour operators, administrators, civil and religious associations and also of citizens interested in exploring the topic in different ways.
Participants included Camilla Laureti, councillor for tourism in the Municipality of Spoleto; Fabrizio Ardito, author of the illustrated publication "La Via di Francesco" Touring Club Editore; Monsignor Paolo Giulietti, president of the "Francesco's Ways" consortium; Monsignor Giampiero Ceccarelli of the archdiocese of Spoleto-Norcia; Simone Minelli of the PiccolAccoglienza della Diocese of Gubbio; Mirko Ceci and Anna Dominici, mayor and councillor of the Municipality of Pietralunga; Don Francesco Cosa, parish priest of Pietralunga and the diocese of Città di Castello; Giacomo Marinelli Andreoli, director of TRG Media; Nicola Checcarelli, expert in cycling tourism and co-author of the Via di Francesco ed. Terre di Mezzo. Chiara dal Aglio, Cristina Giulianelli and Gianluigi Bettin participated for Sviluppumbria.
