Interregional Project “In.IT.inere”

tourism enhancement and promotion of the regions of central Italy

The interregional project of excellence “In.IT.inere” is one of the projects co-financed by the Ministry of Heritage and Cultural Activities and Tourism and aims at enhancing and promoting those historical, landscape, social and cultural factors that attract visitors to the area of central Italy. The regions involved (Umbria, Abruzzo, Lazio, Marche, Sardinia and Tuscany) have identified the Umbria Region as the project leader. “In.IT.Inere” will promote an approach to holidays for discovery and experience through specific products. The project name, in fact, is subtitled “routes, paths and places to discover, among the harmonies and excellence of central Italy”. The objectives of the project, as identified by the various regions, are to propose to the national and international market content for an active tourism, experiential, sustainable and aimed at the discovery of paths and beautiful places, outside the routes of mass tourism.
In particular, the project will enhance and promote internal and rural areas, often inaccurately referred to as “Minor Italy”, but that arouse great interest in the global panorama of a tourism that increasingly seeks new experiences and ideas, both as a search for romantic places and for wedding destinations.
The regions of Abruzzo, Lazio, Marche, Tuscany, Sardinia and Umbria will promote, including internationally, these opportunities offered in their territories through united action to strengthen the position of the offer to the public and to specialized operators.
The project’s actions will be concentrated on promotional initiatives in Italy and abroad, carried out both autonomously and in collaboration with other partners in the project regions. Additional funds are expected to be made available in 2017 from the regions of Lazio, Marche, Tuscany, Abruzzo and Sardinia, in order to entrust Sviluppumbria with the overall coordination of common actions for central Italy.
