2021 SACE Export Report

16 September 2021

Italian exports have returned to the path of growth interrupted by the crisis; a real return to the future, in a context in which it is nevertheless necessary to clearly understand the opportunities at both sector and geographical level.

The 2021 Export Report positions itself as a guide for companies in interpreting this complex scenario, attempting to develop an "anatomy" of the prospects for Italian exports.

Alessandro Terzulli, Chief Economist at SACE, presents the 2021 Export Report. View the presentaton

In a context of global recovery with differentiated trends, SACE estimates a rebound of 11.3% in value of Italian exports of goods this year, which will allow a full return to pre-pandemic levels as early as 2021. Sales of Made in Italy goods will reach 482 B€, and then continue to increase by 5.4% in 2022 and settle at an average growth rate of 4% in the following two years. This rate, which is almost one percentage point higher than the average pre-crisis rate (+3.1%, on average per year, between 2012 and 2019), will make it possible to reach the value of 550 B€ of exports in 2024.
