Sviluppumbria: Shareholders' assembly approves 2023-2025 three-year plan and 2023 program

Innovation, Internationalization and Technology Transfer: these are the main areas on which Sviluppumbria will focus its future action according to the three-year plan 2023-25 presented during the Shareholders' Meeting of the Umbria Region's Economic Development Company held in Perugia on 19 December, in the presence of Regional Economic Development Councillor Michele Fioroni.

With the approval of the new business plan, Sviluppumbria’s role as the leading player in local economic development is confirmed for the next three years. To achieve its new priority objectives and translate the Region's economic policy indications into actions, Sviluppumbria will equip itself with a new task force dedicated to business discovery capable of uniting various cross-cutting skills and further strengthening and complementing the operations of the agency whose mission includes, in addition to the areas mentioned above, support for tourism promotion, management of the Region's real estate assets and investment attraction.

Councillor Michele Fioroni, who spoke at the Assembly, stressed that "the work we are carrying out with Sviluppumbria is daily and highly strategic. The administration has very clear ideas about the company's mission: a reference point for businesses, facilitator of complex projects and accelerator of projects and realities with very high potential." The Councillor added that "with this in mind, together with the CEO, we are structuring a new group of specialists to deal entirely with innovation. A project that stems from what we have built with Sviluppumbria on the acceleration side of innovative projects and that responds to the desire to make Umbria a place of experimentation, where ideas are transformed into products and successful businesses that produce a concrete impact on the development of the region and its competitiveness."

"Sviluppumbria's role in these last two years has been radically transformed and has seen a constant and significant increase in both the measures and activities carried out and the actions and tools with our work has been brought to the attention of stakeholders and the community, as demonstrated by the publication of Sviluppumbria's first Social Report, which was presented last June giving an account of the qualitative and quantitative growth of the entrustments," said Michela Sciurpa, CEO of Sviluppumbria during the Assembly in which the 2023 program and budget were also approved. “Among the main projects carried out in 2022 are SmartUp, which has made it possible to accompany in an innovative way the growth of Umbrian start-ups and the strengthening of Sviluppumbria's activities in the tourism sector, starting with the ‘Open Umbria’ project to which most of the regional hospitality businesses have adhered. The company also played a key role in the organization of major events including Umbria’s Regional Day at Expo 2020 Dubai, the participation of Umbria Aerospace Cluster at the Farnborough International Fair in London and Umbria Nautical Cluster at the METS fair in Amsterdam, the new edition of Umbria Libri, the creation of the collective stands with the new Umbria Brand at the TTG and Ecomondo Fairs and Umbria's first participation in the International Golf Travel Market. Interregional, national and international networks have also been strengthened, as demonstrated by the success of the information and technical assistance activity carried out by Sviluppumbria with Invitalia to promote the Next Appennino measures in the crater areas as part of the collaboration signed with the Development Agencies of Marche and Abruzzo and the coordination of the Enterprise Europe Network for Umbria Marche and Tuscany. Sviluppumbria's commitment to communication, training and information activities remains strong with as many as 107 events (workshops, seminars, webinars) promoted in 2022, a constant and growing presence in web and social channels and the restyling of the BIT magazine with a new cross-media print and digital format. It should be pointed out," Sciurpa concluded, "that the increase in activities has been achieved with the same operational structure, thanks to a careful reorganization that has enabled the optimization and full use of human resources in a constant framework of cost containment and savings of public resources. In 2023, to celebrate Sviluppumbria's 50th anniversary, new communication activities are planned to continue to raise awareness in our territory and businesses of the development opportunities and measures managed and promoted by the Company."
