Cannara Theatre: Strabismi and Free Time present events planned for 2023
Cultivating and supporting culture and theatre is a fundamental way to boost local economic, cultural and social development by promoting the very image of the territory.
The schedule represents the agency's goal of supporting events and projects of absolute quality, which contribute to promotion of the territory. As an agency for regional development, Sviluppumbria’s role is to support businesses, in this case those in the performing arts, a sector that has been particularly hard hit in the last two years, in the realization of projects such as this with great cultural and economic development value. Sviluppumbria manages measures on behalf of the Umbria Region to support investments in the cultural, creative and performing arts sector.
"The link between Strabismi and Free Time has become, over time, more and more solid, leading this beautiful village to be known not only for the excellence of its leading agri-food product, the onion, but also for the value of its cultural initiatives that make it a city of art, capable of training and welcoming talent,” says Strabismi actor and artistic curator Alessandro Sesti, in presenting the rich calendar of events for 2023 at a press conference at the San Sebastiano Auditorium in Cannara, on the occasion of the Onion Festival - Winter Edition 2022, underway in the Umbrian village until Sunday, 11 December. "With Strabismi Beyond Borders and urVINum Hortense Festival," Alessandro Sesti continued, "we are looking forward to an undoubtedly challenging year, but one that will bring innovative and quality young theatre to Umbria.”
There are four artistic containers that will mark the new theatre season in Cannes and Umbria, the result of the fruitful and long-standing synergy between Strabismi and Free Time focused, in particular, in the joint support of emerging artists, through the activation of residency projects in collaboration with Zut, which is part of the Umbrian Center for Artistic Residencies, and through membership in national networks such as Resonance Network.
"At the basis of our relationship is the desire to promote and disseminate an idea of vital and dynamic performance art," explains Michele Bandini, co-director of Spazio Zut and lead partner of CURA, "capable of establishing a dialogue with the audience, communities and territories of reference.”
This purpose is fully shared by Fulvia Angeletti, artistic director of the Piccolo Teatro degli Instabili in Assisi: "We feel united in the same mission towards theatre for our region."
Taking part in the press conference to present the schedule were Marco Andreoli, curator of the Thesorieri Theater of Cannara and FreeTime Association; Mauro Marini, manager of operational activities Sviluppumbria S.p.A.; Fabrizio Gareggia, Mayor of Cannara; and Silvana Pantaleoni, Culture Councillor for the Municipality of Cannara.
