The 18th European Week of Regions and Cities will take place from 5 to 22 October 2020. It is the largest annual event dedicated to regional policy and has been transformed into a unique communication and networking platform, bringing together regions and cities from across Europe, their political representatives, officials, experts and academics.
This year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and related health protection measures, the 500 sessions will be in fully digital format.
The programme is an opportunity for a broad debate on the common challenges that European regions and cities are constantly facing in order to identify solutions, provide a space for capacity building and exchange of experience and good practices in the areas of cohesion policy, facilitate cooperation and networking and the debate on EU cohesion policy.
Again this year Umbria will participate in EURegionsWeek 2020 (EWCR), directly presenting 3 sessions.
The most important Umbrian event at EURegionsWeek 2020 will be held on Tuesday 6 October, streaming directly from the Umbria Region's headquarters in Perugia. The event is organised by the Regional Directorate for Resources, Programming, Culture, Tourism and the Brussels office of the Umbria Region, in collaboration with the Brussels office of Sviluppumbria.
The ROCKING & COMMUNICATING: EUROPE IS YOUNG! workshop focuses on two FSE communication initiatives that have in common the intent to introduce young people to European issues and opportunities. The individual initiatives proposed are
- Young Journalists for Europe, an institutional event designed to provide high school students with training in radio and television journalism in collaboration with the National School of Television Journalism;
- European Social Sound 4U, an award-winning and informal format for young people. A competition among music bands combined with information on ESF regional best practices. The online event will see the participation of the Regional Minister for European Programming, Budget and Human Resources, Tourism, Culture, Education and Right to Study Paola Agabiti, joined by over 100 others including from the European Parliament, European Commission and Committee of the Regions. Paolo Saraca Volpini, journalist and press office of the European Parliament, will moderate the proceedings and two members of the European Parliament will speak.
