Sviluppumbria, SVIM and Abruzzo Sviluppo sign interregional agreement to relaunch the competitiveness of central Italy

The three regional Agencies unite in Foligno on 8 July for the revival of the economy, attraction of investments and sustainable development

European Programming, Innovation, Research and Technology Transfer, Tourism, Territorial Marketing, Internal Areas, Ecological and Digital Transition, Pnrr: these are the main issues at the core of the Memorandum of Understanding signed 8 July in Foligno by Sviluppumbria SpA, in-house Agency for Economic Development of the Umbria Region and its counterparts in Abruzzo and Marche, Abruzzo Sviluppo SpA and SVIM Sviluppo Marche srl, aimed at launching an innovative cooperation and developing common synergies among the Development Agencies of Central Italy.

This strategic alliance, the first in Italy among Development Agencies, follows in the footsteps of Hamu, the interregional Hub Abruzzo Marche Umbria, started last May at the behest of the presidents of the Regions of Abruzzo, Marco Marsilio, Marche, Francesco Acquaroli and Umbria, Donatella Tesei.

Just as Hamu's mission is to synthesize existing projects, at scientific/academic and entrepreneurial/economic levels, for the development of the three regions, the initiative put in place by the three Development Agencies aims to identify common strategies and areas of intervention to attract investment, participate in European calls, maximize their respective backgrounds in order to put in place as many tangible and intangible resources as possible for the revitalization of Central Italy.

The signing of the Agreement took place at the end of an intense day of work promoted and organized by Sviluppumbria at its headquarters in Foligno, where there was a detailed discussion that allowed the president of Sviluppumbria Michela Sciurpa, the president of Abruzzo Sviluppo, Stefano Cianciotta, and Gianluca Carrabs, CEO of SVIM, to enter into operational details of tools and methodologies to support local economic development for the three Development Agencies to act jointly on the issues at the heart of the agreement.

The works have been able to count on many important contributions: In addition to the top management and experts of the three Regional Development Agencies, speakers included the Councillor for Economic Development of the Umbria Region Michele Fioroni, the Councillor for the Budget of the Marche Region Guido Castelli, the President of ANCI Umbria Michele Toniaccini, the President of Gepafin Carmelo Campagna, the Director of Planning and Coordination of European and National Funds of the Umbria Region Paolo Reboani, the President of Umbria Aerospace Cluster Daniele Tonti, the President of Umbria Nautical Cluster Giampaolo Cicioni, the Director of the Service Centre COSMOB Marche Alessio Gnaccarini and the Director of the Service Center MECCANO Marche Letizia Urbani.

Thus, an important think tank has been activated that will translate into joint actions the strategies and programmatic directions agreed upon by Cianciotta, Sciurpa and Carrabs.

"I am enormously satisfied by the operational results of this first meeting that brings to the forefront the Development Agencies of Umbria, Marche and Abruzzo for the economic revitalization of central Italy,” said Michela Sciurpa. “I thank the President of Abruzzo Sviluppo and the CEO of SVIM for having accepted with such enthusiasm our invitation to come to Umbria to begin this new phase of work. Listening to territorial requests, co-planning and networking are the new values of Sviluppumbria that we are now putting into common use to promote together the competitiveness of our territories".

"Today's meeting marks the beginning of a virtuous path that will systemize the skills of the three regional agencies of Abruzzo, Umbria and Marche,” said Stefano Cianciotta. “Abruzzo Sviluppo is proud to be part of this important platform that aims to redefine the new value chains for the growth of our regional areas. I thank my colleagues of Umbria and Marche, Michela Sciurpa and Gianluca Carrabs, for making our intentions immediately operational with the signing of this protocol that can be a model of development for all the territories of Central Italy, so that it can return to play a leading role in the strategic revitalization of our country.

"I express great satisfaction for this brilliant initiative, unique in its kind,” said Gianluca Carrabs. “I thank our colleagues from Sviluppumbria and Abruzzo Sviluppo for their diligence and ability to have intercepted this great opportunity. The challenges that await us can create an enormous economic flywheel, with the resources of the upcoming EU programming, Pnrr, Institutional Development Contract, this alliance between agencies is strategic to place these resources in our territory with effectiveness, efficiency and economy".
