Sviluppumbria Shareholders' Meeting approves 2022-2024 three-year plan and 2022 programme

20 December 2021

Business creation and development, internationalization, innovation and technology transfer, investment attraction, support for tourism promotion and management of the region's real estate assets: these are the main trajectories of Sviluppumbria's 2022-24 Three-Year Plan, presented during the Members' Meeting held on December 17 in Foligno, in the presence of the President of the Umbria Region, Donatella Tesei, and the Councillor for Economic Development, Michele Fioroni.

The approval of the new business plan comes at a time when the Umbria Region is deploying an unprecedented effort to support economic recovery after the pandemic crisis. Sviluppumbria, already fully involved in 2021 in the area's economic recovery and revitalization policies, sees its role as the regional reference point for local economic development confirmed for the next three years.

“The reorganisation of the subsidiaries, which we began as soon as we took office, also involved Sviluppumbria, in order to better focus its mission so that it could be increasingly functional for users, as well as to optimise expenditure and contain costs," said President Tesei. “Sviluppumbria is now called upon to take on new challenges; it will have to be able to accompany our entrepreneurial world in that revival and inversion of the regional economy that we are already seeing in Umbria, despite the crisis caused by the pandemic. I am certain," concluded the president, "that the governance of our subsidiary will be able to meet this challenge in the best possible way, as it is an important element for the growth of our region.”

“The year that is now drawing to a close has been a very complex one," stressed Councillor Fioroni, "but despite the crisis triggered by the pandemic, the Region has defined measures that not only serve to emerge from the emergency but that can restore competitiveness to our economy. Sviluppumbria has been and is a key player in this regard. The Region and the Agency are having the courage to experiment with new models of business support. The SMARTup call for proposals, although it is a small measure compared to the Agency's much broader activities, represents a renewed approach, made up of internal training, interaction with highly specialised networks, and constant proximity to businesses. This new modus operandi," he concluded, "will become increasingly central to the Agency's activities, and will also concern other key areas for the development of our economy, from sustainability to internationalisation.”

"With 2021, the first operational cycle of Sviluppumbria's new governance comes to a successful close," said Michela Sciurpa, Sviluppumbria's President, during the meeting in which the 2022 programme and budget were also approved. “In accordance with the mandate received a year and a half ago from President Donatella Tesei, the Agency's strategic repositioning was carried out punctually, the economic and financial balance was guaranteed and consolidated, and a new organizational model was adopted that can respond flexibly and quickly to the needs of businesses and the territory. The tangible results obtained, measurable in terms of qualitative and quantitative growth of contracts and activities, have been achieved within a framework of constant cost containment and savings of public resources. Once this first phase has been completed," she added, "a new season will begin in 2022 with many challenging elements that Sviluppumbria will face with a further strengthened structure. New programming of European funds 21-27, PNRR, European planning for increasingly digital and sustainable development, increasingly effective and transparent communication, the relaunch of external relations and networking and an enlarged corporate base: these," concluded Sciurpa, "are the new themes that will characterise the Agency in the near future.”
