Bio-economy research, innovation and international collaboration: the Umbrian experience

An event to mark Bioeconomy Day was coordinated and promoted by the SPRING (Green Chemistry) Cluster with Assobiotec - Federchimica 3A Parco Tecnologico Agroalimentare dell'Umbria, with the support of the Umbria Region, Umbria Export and the Umbria Spring Cluster, aimed at illustrating issues related to the possible use of renewable substances for the production of materials and applied products.

The workshop, held as part of the activities of the 2019 Innetwork Program, presented an overview of current research and development opportunities available in the field of bio-economy, innovations in the sustainable management of production processes and new strategies for the valorisation and innovative use of raw materials, themes developed in research and technology transfer projects involving Umbrian companies and research centres.

Participants included: Massimiliano Brilli, President of the Parco Tecnologico Agroalimentare dell'Umbria, Luca Bianconi, President of the SPRING cluster, Giuseppina Baldassarri of Sviluppumbria, Edoardo Pompo of the Umbria Region and Pietro Buzzini of the Department of Agricultural, Food and Environmental Sciences of the University of Perugia.
