Twelve companies of the Umbria Aerospace Cluster are taking part in the 53rd International Paris Air Show Le Bourget - International Exhibition of Aeronautics and Space now on in Paris.

The show, which is held every two years and attracts over 2,300 international exhibitors and 142,000 professional visitors, remains the largest event in the world dedicated to the aerospace industry, representing the meeting place and privileged convergence for operators in the sector.

The Umbrian companies present there are C.B.L. Electronics of Todi, Co.Me.Ar. of Spello, Fomap of Petrignano, Fucine Umbre of Terni, Garofoli of Terni, N.C.M. of Foligno, O.M.A. of Foligno, Rampini of Passignano, RF Microtech of Perugia, Temis-Art Group of Passignano, U.A.S. of Torgiano and Umbragroup of Foligno.

The Umbria Aerospace Cluster brings together 29 Umbrian companies with a turnover of approximately 450 million euros and nearly three thousand employees. This group of companies continues to grow steadily and compete with great determination in global markets.

"The Le Bourget fair,” said the President of Umbria Aerospace Cluster Antonio Baldaccini, “is an important stage, a place where decisions are made for the future and where the history of the aerospace industry is written. For the sixth time, the Umbria Aerospace Cluster is taking part in the International Aeronautics and Space Show with the aim of promoting the quality and competence of our companies and of expanding and consolidating the relationships of collaboration and supply with Italian and international customers. On behalf of all our members, I thank the Umbria Region and Sviluppumbria, which have ensured their support to the industrial system of our territory since the beginning".

On the evening of 18 June, Umbria was also the protagonist of a promotional event organised by Sviluppumbria and by the Cluster at the Italian Embassy in France. The Ambassador of Italy to France, Castaldo, the General Manager of Sviluppumbria, Agostini, the President of Umbria Aerospace Cluster Baldaccini were there, along with representatives of Umbrian companies present at the fair and their main customers. The evening was attended by the President of the Defence Commissions of the Chamber, Hon. Rizzo and the Senate, Sen. Tesei, the President of ENAC Zaccheo, the President of Aiad Crosetto, the President of Asi Saccoccia and the CEO of Thales Alenia Space Italia Amoroso. Ambassador Castaldo and Plenipotentiary Minister Rosini did the honours, together with the highest representatives of the Italian civil and military authorities stationed in Paris. The Umbrian event also brought numerous managers from the "Leonardo world" and from great international aeronautical companies.

Three important events took place on 19 June: the signing of a multi-million euro contract between Umbragroup and Thales Alenia Space for the supply of satellite equipment; the visit of the President of the Defence Commission of the Senate, Tesei, and the signing of a partnership agreement between Leonardo and OMA, concerning LEAP2020, the development programme of the key suppliers of the Leonardo Group, national champion in the AD&S sector. The agreement with OMA is the first signed within the perimeter of the aerostructures, within the programme that represents one of the pillars of Leonardo's 2018-2022industrial plan.

"The ten-year collaboration with the companies of the Umbrian Cluster of Aerospace,” said the President of the Umbria Region Paparelli, “is a unique model of partnership between companies and institutions in Italy. In fact, it represents a real pattern of industrial policy on a regional scale, with companies that achieve important results in terms of growth and employment, supported by the regional administration that accompanies the leading role of companies with support for internationalization, research and innovation. The results are reassuring about the validity of the path taken in recent years.”

"For Sviluppumbria,” added Managing Director Agostini, “supporting the Umbria Aerospace Cluster at this fair represents a fundamental moment in the promotion of Umbrian excellence. The process of internationalization and development of regional exports is one of the key points of the Agency's activity, and support for the presence of the Cluster at the Le Bourget fair represents due recognition to the companies in the sector that, with their competitiveness, contribute positively to the regional GDP. The successful networking event held at the Italian Embassy in Paris confirms the validity of the integrated promotion formula between the internationalisation of businesses and the promotion of Umbria as a tourism resource.”
