CALL FOR IDEAS: "Create the sustainability hub space"

14 December 2021

The Umbria Region promotes the revitalisation of the region - sustainable innovation. The hub is intended to be a meeting place for the innovation ecosystem: companies, researchers, start-ups, young innovators and all the public bodies whose expertise will play an institutional role in promoting Umbria's ecological transition.

This initiative aims to make students the protagonists in designing a new space for the SUSTAINABILITY HUB, which will be located at Sviluppumbria’s Terni offices.

The concept of sustainability is broad and integrated. It follows the objectives of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, signed on 25 September 2015 by the governments of the 193 member countries of the United Nations, which promotes action in favour of the planet, people and their equal rights.

The aim is therefore to build a world that is sustainable not only from an environmental, but also from a social and economic point of view.

Competition theme:

Students are invited to submit their ideas for re-designing and re-designing a Hub space of and for sustainability, to be used for the organisation of meetings, seminars and workshops for sharing and co-designing for all the actors of the innovation ecosystem in the field of sustainability. The building to be redeveloped is located in Terni, in the industrial area of Sabbione, Strada delle Campore n.13.

The space is also intended to host events, processes and training projects able to support companies in the ecological transition, making available all the skills present in Umbria and creating links with extensive networks of skills (extra-regional, national and international).

The intervention consists of the functional and aesthetic redefinition of an area inside the building. It is also possible, however, to develop design proposals that involve the exterior (facades and shells) and the surrounding areas, for a hypothetical redevelopment of the green area.

The Hub must be conceived not only on the basis of the principles of environmental sustainability, linked to materials, processes and construction techniques, but must promote a concept of space that is also sustainable from a social and cultural point of view; a space that creates sustainable relations both inside and outside.

Below is the complete call for proposals with the rules and regulations, how to participate and all downloadable attachments (in Italian).
