08 August 2022

Spoleto 3 August 2022  – Development opportunities offered by the NRRP Supplementary Fund earmarked for the earthquake crater areas were presented to entrepreneurs from the Spoleto-Valnerina Section of Confindustria Umbria, chaired by Giacomo Filippi Coccetta, at the territorial section's executive council meeting.

Also speaking at the meeting, along with President Filippi Coccetta, was Confindustria Umbria Director General Simone Cascioli. The initiative, which took place at the Albornoz Palace Hotel in Spoleto, was attended by representatives of Sviluppumbria, Invitalia and the Order of Chartered Accountants, for a discussion on measures available to companies in the area damaged by the 2016 earthquake.

In particular, Sviluppumbria illustrated the contents of the complementary fund to the NRRP for the areas affected by the earthquake, which, with the macro-measure called "Economic and social revitalization," makes available to businesses a total of more than 700 M€, representing an opportunity for development for businesses and territories belonging to the areas affected by the earthquakes in the central Apennines. The CEO of Sviluppumbria described the agency's support activities for investment projects through a counter service accessible to potential beneficiaries of the facilities.

"The measures that have been illustrated to us by Sviluppumbria," said President Filippi Coccetta, "are very important for our territory. Development prospects adequate to the great potential of this area are needed, and the new incentives represent an opportunity to be seized for the revitalization of the local economic fabric. Substantial allocations are foreseen that will be able to contribute decisively not only to the reconstruction and regeneration of the territories affected by the earthquake, but also to the birth of new businesses by supporting investments, innovation projects and tourism promotion initiatives."

During the meeting, the issue of expensive energy was also addressed and the functioning of energy communities was discussed in depth. "This is a tool being defined," President Filippi stressed, "which can play a very important role at this stage and bring benefits to businesses and the territory.”
