2021 Enterprise Europe Network Awards: UBT SRL - Umbria Bioengineering Technologies and Sviluppumbria recognised

01 October 2021

Innovative enterprises: Umbrian company and Sviluppumbria win an award at the 2021 Enterprise Europe Network annual conference in Stuttgart

The European Commission and the European Innovation Council and SME Executive Agency (EISMEA) announced the winners of the Enterprise Europe Network 2021 prizes on 1 October in Stuttgart. The award recognises and rewards creative, digitally ambitious and sustainable entrepreneurs who make the most of their market opportunities through the services and support of the Enterprise Europe Network.

The winner of the first prize in the "Inspiring Client Journey" category was the Umbrian company UBT SRL (Umbria Bioengineering Technologies), a biomedical company that develops and markets innovative medical imaging devices, based on cutting-edge microwave technology instead of dangerous ionising radiation (X-rays).

The collaboration between UBT and Sviluppumbria, support office for Umbria of the Enterprise Europe Network, has been judged the best example at the European level of positive results for SMEs benefitting from the Network's services.  Sviluppumbria has assisted UBT on its growth path throughout the entire experimental process from the idea to the market, contributing to the international launch of MammoWave, an X-ray free mammogram.

The Enterprise Europe Network is the world's largest support network for small and medium-sized enterprises, and is funded by the European Union. Operating in more than 60 countries worldwide, it brings together 3,000 experts from over 600 organisations, all recognised for excellence in business support. Members include technology poles, innovation support organisations, universities and research institutes, development agencies, chambers of commerce and industry associations. Represented in Umbria by Sviluppumbria, the network helps companies innovate and grow internationally and increase their resilience, in Europe and beyond.

Combining international business experience with local knowledge to help SMEs take their innovation to new markets, the Enterprise Europe Network helps companies grow faster through tailored support, new business partnerships and access to finance.
