EIT Inno Energy

Call

Through the 2021 investment cycle, EIT InnoEnergy is launching a call for companies that are working on an innovative project in one of the 8 thematic areas of the EIT community, namely:

  •     energy storage;
  •     smart and efficient buildings and cities;
  •     renewable energy;
  •     smart grids;
  •     energy efficiency;
  •     nuclear instrumentation;
  •     energy for the circular economy;
  •     energy for transport and mobility.

Through a network of over 500 partners, EIT InnoEnergy is able to provide:

  •     Funding to help turn the project into reality;
  •     Support to identify market needs and potential customers;
  •     Reduced time to market, turning the prototype into a commercial product within five years;
  •     Access to over 500 project partners to support new product development.

Proposals can be submitted by public and/or private consortia of any size that have a project for an innovative sustainable energy product or service. The consortium must be composed of three to seven European organisations from the industry and research sectors. There is no limitation on the size of the organisation.

  • If the company applying for the project has no partners, InnoEnergy can try to bring together the necessary partners.
  • Partners must come from at least 2 countries (exceptionally, also from outside the EU) and include at least one of the companies that will market the product or service.

Participation as a partner of a research institute is not mandatory, but InnoEnergy encourages it. You do not need to be an EIT InnoEnergy partner to apply, but if your project is selected you must become one.

Type of financing

Contribution to expenditures / Co-financing

Budget in euros

Every EIT Innoenergy Innovation project starts with a so-called Work Package 0 (WP0).

This is a feasibility study dedicated to the analysis and development of business opportunities. This analysis will have to be defended before a thematic field evaluation committee or Executive Committee which will determine at a formal review whether or not the project can continue to receive EIT Innoenergy funding. The allocation of funds for WP0 is limited to a maximum of 50,000 Euros. If there is a need for higher funding, this must be explained and contextualised. Funding of EIT Innoenergy projects will be decided on a six-monthly basis, subject to two conditions: 1. Performance and 2. Availability of EIT Innoenergy resources for the year Y
