EUSEW – European Sustainable Energy Week 2022

From 26 to 30 September, the European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW 2022) returns. This event has been organised by the European Commission since 2017 to give visibility to initiatives in the field of sustainable and renewable energy. After two editions in virtual format, the 2022 edition will take place in a hybrid format, with in-person sessions in Brussels that can also be followed online.

The central event of the week is the high-level conference from 27 to 29 September with the theme Going green and digital for Europe's energy transition. Organised by the European Commission together with industry players on sustainable energy policy issues, it is divided into several sessions: RepowerEU, digitalisation, energy efficiency, renewables, consumers and a fair energy transition and decarbonisation.

An important event at the heart of the EUSEW will take place on 26 September: the European youth energy day. This initiative was first introduced in 2020 and is aimed at people aged 18 to 34 who have ideas for turning Europe into the first climate-neutral continent and wish to share them. Participants (who must register in advance) will first be involved in a debate with Energy Commissioner Kadri Simson on the topic How to ensure Europe's future energy independence is sustainable. This will be followed by an interactive session entitled What will our energy future look like 20 years from now? led by Ditte Juul Jørgensen, Director General of DG Energy, and joined by three speakers from various European projects promoting innovative solutions on how energy systems could be managed in the years to come.
