Internationalisation: a guide to getting started

22 Jun 2020

What is business internationalisation?

“Internationalisation is the process through which companies open themselves to new foreign markets, establishing relationships with other companies, consumers and institutions operating in those territories, in order to sell, produce, or buy raw materials, or find new sources of financing”.

Internationalising the company means that it interacts with foreign markets in different ways; it:

  • sells its products/services abroad,
  • buys from foreign suppliers,
  • produces abroad,
  • find sources of financing abroad,
  • makes alliances with foreign partners.

The export of goods and services is one of the emerging levers of development of Italian companies, driven by digital opportunities and the potential of e-commerce as a declination of sales innovation in foreign countries.
