It is a fundamental attestation, but also the first stage of a journey that will bring the green heart of Umbria to the recognition of cultural heritage.
On 10 January, the hearings for the designation of historical rural landscapes were held at the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Food.
The candidacy of the olive range from Assisi to Spoleto covering 9 thousand hectares of hills and putting together six municipalities was supported by the mayors of Assisi, Spello, Foligno, Trevi, Campello sul Clitunno and Spoleto, to enhance that unique portion of territory.
As was pointed out by the MIPAAF experts themselves the Umbrian proposal is unique for its landscape, historical, agronomic and anthropological significance. This sets a solid foundation both for the inclusion of the landscapes of world interest that the FAO is registering and for the recognition of the olive band as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
From history, from the landscape, from the determination of men once again Umbria finds an opportunity for development.
