Living Lab: meeting with Engineering students

17 October 2018

The first in a series of meetings planned to present the LIVING LAB project with the Umbria Region, Sviluppumbria and the students of the University of Perugia took place in the Engineering department of the University of Perugia.

"The meetings with the university students are not only informative,” says the General Manager Mauro Agostini, “but are intended to encourage interaction and active participation in the formation of Living Labs to seek solutions together. How do good ideas come about? There is no longer an individual genius, ideas are born from collaboration and this is exactly the challenge of Living Labs: to create a place to circulate ideas and to create innovation project.  Living Labs can be the places where ideas circulate and, above all, where they are articulated and structured to become concrete projects".

Professor Cotana confirms how technology can support innovative solutions applicable to the different themes identified, citing the example of technology applied to the area of cultural heritage and in the preservation of monuments and ancient treasures. The University of Perugia is at the forefront of the protection of monuments from the risks related to climate change. The main monuments of the city of Gubbio have been chosen for a pilot action.

A student who belongs to  the UNIPG Racing Team, a group of 40 students who commit their skills and resources in order to bring a racing car on the road, immediately launched a clear and precise idea: transforming the endothermic engine of the Formula SAE, the subject of the group's research, into an electric motor as a contribution to the theme of the environment with a view to sustainable mobility with low environmental impact.
