A little over a month after the signing of the agreement between Sviluppumbria and the Center for Equal Opportunity (CPO) of the Region of Umbria - signed on 7 October by the president of Sviluppumbria, Michela Sciurpa, and the president of the CPO, Caterina Grechi, the collaboration of the two institutions to jointly promote equal opportunity in business activities has been fully launched, in the presence of Luigi Rossetti and Fortunato Bianconi representing, respectively, Arpal and Umbria Digitale.
The main operational tool envisaged by the agreement is the activation of the "Donna Point Umbria" desk located at CPO headquarters in Perugia, at Via Giuseppe Mazzini 21. "Donna Point Umbria" was created to provide assistance to women who intend to start a business in Umbria or who need information about their entrepreneurial activity, including the possibility of accessing public financing. The orientation and accompaniment service, entirely free of charge, will be provided by qualified personnel made available by the Sviluppumbria Economic Development Agency. The desk will be physically open once a week, and online services will also be provided.
With this initiative, Sviluppumbria, the Umbria Region's Economic Development Agency, intends to establish a collaborative relationship with CPO aimed at launching joint initiatives, in line with their respective mandates," said Michela Sciurpa. "The promotion of women's businesses is fully in line with Sviluppumbria's strategic objectives. It is one of the priority themes for relaunching regional competitiveness in an inclusive and socially sustainable way. In my dual role as a female entrepreneur and as president of Sviluppumbria, I very much wanted to promote this initiative to join forces with CPO, pooling the skills and services provided by the Agency and making more women aware of the opportunities available in the region.
Commenting on the initiative, President Grechi noted that “as an institution, the CPO has always stood for the provision of services to women (The Library and the Anti-Violence Centre Telefono Donna). This testifies to its historical vocation of being on the territory a garrison that offers Umbrian women concrete and effective tools to ensure visibility to their needs and to achieve their own autonomy. The 'Donna Point Umbria' desk is a further step in this direction, which I trust will support many Umbrian women in enhancing their creativity and planning in the workplace.”
Among the other areas of cooperation envisaged in the agreement - which will last three years with the possibility of renewal - are the promotion of cognitive surveys on local entrepreneurship, the identification of opportunities to access and promote women in the world of work and entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial and professional training activities, and cooperation with other local actors involved in promoting and supporting female entrepreneurship and active labour policies.
