Herition Project: Umbrian Delegation Visits Romania for a Study Tour on Participatory Cultural Heritage Management

A delegation from Umbria took part in a study visit to the Northeast Region of Romania, organized as part of the Interreg Europe Herition project. The project aims to explore good practices in participatory management and the digitization of cultural heritage.
The initiative, promoted by the Regional Development Agency of Romania’s Northeast Region, brought together all project partners for two days of work, fostering discussion and the exchange of experiences on innovative strategies for the protection and promotion of cultural heritage.
The delegation, composed of representatives from Sviluppumbria, a project partner, and the University of Perugia, visited Târgu Neamț to participate in the international seminar and visit several cultural sites that serve as significant examples of the solutions adopted by the Romanian partner to make cultural heritage increasingly inclusive, accessible, and enjoyable.
During the seminar, Sviliuppumbria presented the Umbria Region’s experience with the digital catalog of historic parks and gardens, recently implemented to support the preservation, management, and promotion of this important regional heritage.
The Herition project, led by the Badajoz County Council (Spain), involves a European partnership comprising Sviluppumbria S.p.A., the Development Agency for the Northeast Region of Romania, the Municipality of Apeldoorn (Netherlands), Aufbauwerk Region Leipzig GmbH (Germany), the Municipality of Tetovo (North Macedonia), and FUNPASOS (Spain), which participates as an advisory partner. The Umbria Region and the Middle Saxony District (Germany) also participate as local policy-making authorities, whose policies are the focus of the integration process through the exchange of best practices.
Funded by the Interreg Europe program through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), Herition has a total budget of 1,451,550 euros and will conclude on July 31, 2029.
