President Michela Sciurpa presents Sviluppumbria's activities on the occasion of the social report of companies partly owned by the Umbria Region

03 December 2021

Participated companies - Tesei at the Villa Umbra meeting: "today we inform citizens about the work done and the services offered to the community".

The aim of the working day organised by the Umbria Region at the Umbrian School of Public Administration was to inform the public about the activities of the companies in which it has a stake and their impact on the community. The working day was attended by all the top management of the companies and agencies in which the Region has a stake, as well as trade associations and trade unions.

Donatella Tesei, President of the Umbria Region, said at the opening of the event: "Since we took office, we have been focusing on the reorganisation and optimisation of our subsidiaries. A demanding and complex task, carried out in record time despite the health emergency, which among other things has led to the identification of precise missions for each entity, to reorganisation where necessary, and to cost optimisation.

“Today," she continued, "we want to do something different, we want to inform Umbrian citizens about what the subsidiaries actually offer, what services they provide and their impact on the community.”

As the President pointed out, the analysis and reorganisation of the investee companies began immediately after the Regional Council took office and led to both an optimisation of the services offered and a saving in public resources of around €3 million per year, which were then used for policies in favour of families and businesses.

“These actions," said Tesei, "have also led to an increase in the areas of intervention and levels of cooperation between the companies themselves in order to offer increasingly efficient services that meet the needs of users.

“Every day," stressed President Tesei, "there are actions of public utility carried out by the subsidiaries, sometimes better known, thinking of Umbria Mobilità and Sase for transport, or Sviluppumbria and Gepafin for business support, but sometimes the action is less well known and goes, to give just a few examples, from the toll free number for questions about Covid, which has handled 271,000 calls (Umbria Salute), to the 500 access points to free wifi in 42 municipalities (Umbria Digitale), to the information action in schools on food waste (Parco 3A), to the project for the employment of disadvantaged people (Umbraflor), to the support for small professionals made fragile by Covid (Umbria Foundation against usury).

“These are just a few examples of the daily commitment and services provided by each subsidiary, which will be illustrated this morning. Today's event," concluded the President, "is only a first of what will become an annual event.”
