(aun) – Perugia, 22 June 2016 – The public-private group made up of the Regione Umbria, Sviluppumbria SpA, Confindustria Umbria, Umbria Export, Sistemi Formativi Confindustria Umbria and Comete, a consulting and engineering company located in Tunisia, has provisionally won the Tunisian Government’s call for tenders to strengthen the support system for Tunisian small and medium-sized enterprises and start-ups, under the Italian-Tunisian Technical Cooperation Programme co-funded by the Italian Foreign Ministry’s Cooperazione Italiana programme to support the Tunisian private sector.

The three-year project, worth about 740,000 Euros, is divided mainly into training activities and technical assistance to more than 100 Tunisian SMEs, and will provide a series of actions in areas of local economic development, internationalisation and business innovation. These start from strengthening the general management skills for the Promotion of SMEs and of the Regional structures supporting SMEs; creating an Observatory for SMEs in the Tunisian regions of Bizerte, Nabeul, Zaghaouan, Gabes, Tozeur, Kebili, Medenine and Tatouinedi;  implementing processes to streamline and coordinate support structures for SMEs in existing Espaces d'Entreprises; and assisting Tunisian start-ups. It is one of the first concrete initiatives following the recent Italo -Tunisian Forum that was held in Tunis on 8 May, 2016.
