Roots Tourism: the "call for ideas" aimed at territorial networks and communities to welcome Italians, and their descendants, from around the world
Tuesday, 7 March, 3 p.m. online information meeting aimed at tourism operators of the Umbria Region
Culture and history, sustainable tourism and hospitality, territorial networks and local communities, these are some of the components of "roots tourism," or tourism that is based on the search for one's family roots and the recovery of places and traditions of the past. As part of the "Attractiveness of Villages" Investment - NRRP Project "Roots Tourism," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) has published the "Call for Ideas" - deadline on 22 March - to establish, in each of the Italian regions, territorial networks of operators with the aim of developing a tourism offer aimed at welcoming travellers with Italian roots and to encourage the promotion and consolidation of professional figures and specific services, also in anticipation of the "2024 Year of Italian Roots in the World."
An online meeting aimed at interested Umbrian operators will be held on 7 March at 3 p.m. for them to learn more about the call for proposals. The purpose of the meeting is to inform, answer questions and connect people motivated to submit a project with each other. To participate, it is necessary to send an e-mail to turismoradiciumbria@gmail.com by 6 March, providing your references and indicating your institution, if any. A link will be sent to the email provided.
Professionals involved in the project may include tour guides and tour leaders, genealogists, travel designers, secretarial staff, administrative-accounting staff, content creators and communication experts, among others. The notice will fund up to 20 project proposals, one from each region with grant funding.
