Romantic Destination Umbria, a new project to attract weddings

21 Jun 2017

Umbria is undoubtedly one of the most romantic destinations in Italy. It represents a unique place to share unforgettable moments and celebrate your dream of love, immersed in a landscape rich in culture and spirituality”, says Fabio Paparelli, Vice-President of the Umbria Region delegated to Tourism, commenting on the new initiatives in the wedding sector launched by the Region in cooperation with Sviluppumbria.

“The new project” the councillor explains, “enriches the more comprehensive strategy, starting with the publication of the guide Love me in Umbria, with which we intend to promote the overall  wedding sector by stimulating the creation of thematic tourism products for the national and international market.”

The initiative is being promoted by Sviluppumbria in the setting of promotional activities in foreign markets and involves the launch of an innovative joint venture with the EasyWedding website and the Umbrialifestyle Consortium. EasyWedding, one of the world’s leading wedding planning portals with over 65,000 monthly visits and 180,000 social media fans, launched the Wedding of the Year photographic contest last year, awarding a holiday trip to the sponsor's destination to the winner.

In exchange for providing the prize holiday, Umbria will be present on the site with a banner ad, link to the Umbriatourism portal, logos and constant social media updates, which will be seen by an estimated 1.5 million people by February 2018.

“Tourism promotion must today find unprecedented development channels, especially in the most technologically advanced markets,” says Sviluppumbria’s General Manager, Mauro Agostini. For years, Sviluppumbria has expanded its range of promotional initiatives that, in addition to traditional fairs, now focus on road shows, press tours, workshops and B2B meetings for operators, events and the many possibilities offered by online communication linked to the Umbriatourism portal.”

The agreement between Sviluppumbria and Umbrialifestyle, which will provide lodging in one of its member hotels, is one of the cooperative activities underway to join institutional-type tourism promotion with initiatives to support the commercialization of products and services for tourists.
