Umbrialibri: presentation of the program that will enliven Terni from 2-4 December 2022

24 November 2022

UmbriaLibri 2022

from 2 to 4 December at the bct, Biblioteca Comunale di Terni

The last part of this XXVIII edition of UmbriaLibri, the publishing and cultural review promoted by the Umbria Region in collaboration with Sviluppumbria and AUR - Agenzia Umbria Ricerche, directed by Angelo Mellone, will take place from 2-4 December in Terni at the bct, Biblioteca Comunale di Terni (Piazza della Repubblica, 1).

After the success of its Perugia version, UmbriaLibri arrives at the bct, Biblioteca Comunale di Terni from 2-4 December. Among the guests: Serena Autieri, Donato Carrisi, Andrea Caterini, Costantino D'Orazio, Eleonora Daniele, Paolo Del Debbio, Federica De Paolis, Andrea Di Consoli, Marco Frittella, Elisa Fuksas, Msgr. Vincenzo Paglia, Mario Tozzi, and Marcello Veneziani.

"Terni is the second stage of approach to the new UmbriaLibri, which will take shape next year and aims to be a revolution in respect to the tradition of this event. A year-round festival of literature, embracing all of Umbria and overcoming the traditional distinction between books and other forms of storytelling. Meanwhile, in this three-day December event we will bring famous authors, great writers to the city, capable of satisfying different audiences and tastes, without forgetting poetry, art, cinema... I am very happy that it will all take place in the centre, in a particular weekend approaching Christmas. It will be, I hope, a moment of encounter between audiences and authors, between different forms of storytelling, between different narrative platforms. Hurray for UmbriaLibri!" declares Angelo Mellone, artistic director of the Festival.

"The UmbriaLibri event, after more than 25 years of activity, has been enriched with additional initiatives with a greater national scope. The regional administration has launched this year a redevelopment and a new approach, aimed at increasing the potential of a cultural event among the oldest and most established at the regional level," comments Paola Agabiti, Regional Councillor for Culture and Tourism, "The Umbria Region wanted to focus on Terni, so that this moment of the event acquires its own precise specificity and character of event, defined and marked by its own content and themes. I thank the administration of Terni, the Umbrian publishers and the new director of UmbriaLibri Angelo Mellone” she concludes, “who have believed in this project and intensely worked to make this edition the start of a path capable of leading the entire event to be a strong element of cultural and tourist attraction for the whole territory."

"If Umbria is a region to be told, in its many facets, Terni has its own specific connotation, I would say in continuous updating, to be focused on, narrating and listening. This is also why I believe that the annual UmbriaLibri event is an extraordinary opportunity for cultural growth for the city. This is so because it allows space for local publishing and because it puts us in a position to pay more attention to the importance of reading and listening to our own and other people's stories, which - in each case - help us to better understand and grow our identity. This is why we welcome the 2022 edition of UmbriaLibri and its new artistic director Angelo Mellone to whom I extend a warm greeting and our best wishes," comments Leonardo Latini, Mayor of Terni.

Sviluppumbria’s CEO, Michela Sciurpa, says: "More than 2,500 attendees, 100 speakers, more than 50 meetings, 26 guests and 36 Umbrian publishers present: these are the numbers that tell of the extraordinary success of the first Perugia stage of the new edition of UmbriaLibri. It is the first important result of a work that sees Sviluppumbria strongly committed to the relaunch of the event wanted by the Umbria Region as a flywheel of cultural, tourist and economic promotion of our territory. The agency has handled the organization of all the scheduled events, from relations with speakers to the management of the preparations, from online and offline advertising to the press office, from the new graphic line to the restyling of the event website. A commitment that now continues in view of the Terni edition of UmbriaLibri to be held 2-4 Decembe. As a follow up to Umbria Libri 2022," Sciurpa concludes, "Sviluppumbria will also be busy this year from 7 to 11 December in Rome at the national fair of small and medium publishing, where it will take care of the collective stand of Umbrian publishers promoted by the Umbria Region Umbria."
