Sviluppumbria presents the St. Francis Way at the World Trail Conference

The St. Francis Way was presented during World Trail Conference, promoted by the Xunta de Galicia, and held in Santiago de Compostela. This is an important recognition because the St. Francis Way is the only Italian route invited to be represented by a speaker. This international event highlighted the work done by Sviluppumbria and the Umbria Region on the theme of the paths as well as an opportunity for discussion and specialist training on best international practices in the field of sustainability, maintenance and digitization.

The conference was also attended by Professor Paolo Caucci von Saucken, Rector of the Confraternity of San James of Compostela, considered by many to be the leading living expert on the Way of St James. The Brotherhood is the only institution in Italy authorized to issue the pilgrim’s credential, an indispensable document for those who intend to make a pilgrimage to the holy sites of Santiago de Compostela, Rome, Jerusalem, or to any other Christian shrine.
