Herition: la delegazione umbra partner del progetto partecipa al meeting europeo – Apeldoorn, 25 e 26 febbraio 2026

The partners of Interreg Europe's Herition project met in Apeldoorn (NL) on 25-26 February to study how institutions can harmonize the protection of the natural environment and cultural heritage. The Umbrian delegation included representatives from Sviluppumbria, a project partner, and the local stakeholder community: the University of Perugia, the Municipality of Orvieto, and the Ministry of Culture (National Museums of Perugia - Regional Directorate of National Museums of Umbria).

The Municipality of Apeldoorn organized the meeting, with study visits to sites located in the Veluwe National Park, which is partly within the municipal boundaries. Local stakeholders presented examples of how to manage potential conflicts between the enhancement of cultural heritage and environmental protection.

Herition partners also presented good practices from their territories. Chiara Dall'Aglio of Sviluppumbria illustrated how Umbria develops and promotes slow tourism, attracting visitors who travel the region's trails on foot or by bicycle, while also passing through important cultural sites, often in locations far from the main tourist attractions.

Herition, led by the Badajoz County Council (ES), includes the following partners: Sviluppumbria SpA, the Agency for the Development of the North-East Region (RO), the Municipality of Apeldoorn (NL), Aufbauwerk Region Leipzig GmbH (DE), the Municipality of Tetovo (MK) and FUNPASOS (ES), in the role of advisory partner. The Umbria Region and the District of Central Saxony (DE) participate as authorities responsible for local policies, which are the subject of the integration process through the exchange of good practices.

Herition, with a total budget of €1,451,550, is funded through the Interreg Europe program - ERDF and will run until 31 July 2029.
