Umbria meets the Netherlands and Norway - 28 and 30 March 2023

28 March 2023

Sviluppumbria, on behalf of the Umbria Region, is organizing two territorial promotion events in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute.

On Tuesday, 28 March at the Italian Cultural Institute in Amsterdam, a select group of Dutch tourism professionals and journalists are invited to learn more about some of Umbria's special features and attractions.

The event will be replicated on Thursday, 30 March at the Italian Cultural Institute in Oslo, involving similar guests from the Norwegian capital.

The two-day program includes a presentation of our region by Sviluppumbria's CEO Michela Sciurpa. This will be followed by Veruska Picchiarelli, co-curator of the exhibition The Best Master of Italy. Perugino in his time will illustrate the exhibition, open until June 11 at the National Gallery of Umbria, dedicated to the Divine painter on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of his death. Closing will be a performance by Maestro Alessandro Deledda in a solo piano concert.

The Dutch market represents an important segment for Umbria's tourism sector. Visitors from the Netherlands have long chosen Umbria for their vacations, and the country is one of the region's main foreign targets. More generally, the Nordics market (which along with Norway includes Sweden, Finland and Denmark) constitutes consumers attentive to issues related to sustainability and green, recognizable elements in Umbria's tourism offer.

The two initiatives are organized by Sviluppumbria with ERDF funds, intervention line C, action 871, and represents one of the activities carried out by the Agency on behalf of the Umbria Region for the tourism promotion of Umbria in international markets.

The promotional initiative, presented on 15 March at the headquarters of the Umbria Region in Palazzo Donini, aims to tell the story of Umbria to a qualified audience able to appreciate the offer of our region from the tourist, cultural and business point of view. The participation of Dutch and Norwegian tour operators and journalists at the two events was selected thanks to Sviluppumbria's collaboration with ENIT - National Tourism Agency.

Speaking at the press presentation were Regional Councillor for Tourism and Culture Paola Agabiti Urbani; Sviluppumbria CEO Michela Sciurpa; Veruska Picchiarelli, co-curator of the exhibition "The Best Master of Italy. Perugino of his time" for the National Gallery of Umbria; Filippo Fettucciari for Brand Culturale; and Chiara Biscarini for the University for Foreigners of Perugia. In connection from Oslo, the director of the Italian Cultural Institute Raffaella Giampaola took part.
