The walk of the Franciscan Protomartyrs

The Walk of the Franciscan Protomartyrs, promoted by the Compagnia dei Romei, the Umbria Regional Authority, Sviluppumbria and the Province of Terni is a 100 km path to discover some of the most evocative places in Umbria; a personal journey amidst history, nature and faith.

The walk is divided into six stages to be taken according to your own personal preferences. It winds between the towns and villages of Terni, Stroncone, Calvi dell'Umbria, Narni, San Gemini and Cesi, and touches the birthplaces of the Protomartyr Saints.

The project, coordinated by Sviluppumbria, provides the inspiration to rediscover the Franciscan origins of a portion that remains one of the hidden secrets of the Terni area and contributes to the development of religious and spiritual tourism in this area of the region. Guiding the pilgrims is a dense network of wooden, metal and ceramic signposts on trees, paths, palaces in the historic town centres and reception buildings. The visitors may choose between a wide selection of structures and accommodation: farm accommodation, hotels, B&Bs, guest rooms.
