On Thursday, December 21 at 12, at the Railway Museum Spoleto-Norcia, will be held the presentation of new automated systems to count hikers and cyclist, financed by Sviluppumbria and the Umbria Region to promote and enhance the routes Greenway and cyclylng trail Spoleto-Assisi and former railway Spoleto-Norcia.
Speakers will be the Councilor for Mobility Vincenza Campagnani, Paolo Capocci of Umbria Mobilità and Cristina Giulianelli, Sviluppumbria Tourism area.
Sviluppumbria has been committed for years to the developing of regional cycling routes. A morphologically varied territory, hundreds of kilometers of scenic roads and with little traffic ideal for lovers of racing bikes, a vast network of dirt patches, add mule tracks and paths, make Umbria a paradise for cyclists and bikers.
The structural interventions carried out in the last few years have allowed to complete some strategic itineraries, which are now recognized as excellences at international level as, for example, the Assisi - Spoleto - Norcia Cycle Path, which awarded the prize for the most beautiful Green Path in Italy in 2015, or the inter-regional itinerary "Pedalando nella Terra del Duca" , in collaboration with the Marche region. The additional investments planned in the coming years will allow the completion of many other long-distance itineraries, aiming to the creation of a real regional cycle network.
A main element of innovation for the Assisi Spoleto Norcia Cycle Path has been introduced through the creation of a detection instrument for cyclists, with low visual impact and high resistance to atmospheric agents, able to monitoring and collecting all the data flows from the passage of cyclists along the Ciclovia. These data will then be used for sector analysis and implementation of new strategies aimed at increasing this tourism sector.
