PRESS RELEASE

NextAppennino: Sviluppumbria and Invitalia together for the economic and social revitalization of the Umbria Region's crater areas

On 1 September, Sviluppumbria, the Umbria Region's Agency for Economic Development, signed an agreement with Invitalia, the National Agency for the Attraction of Investments and Business Development, to carry out promotion, technical assistance and management activities for the interventions envisaged in NextAppennino, a fund complementary to the NRRP for the areas damaged by the 2009 and 2016 earthquakes in Central Italy.

"Signing this agreement is the result of a long process initiated with the structure of the Extraordinary Commissioner for Reconstruction to activate synergies and pool regional and national expertise and resources for the relaunch of the inland areas of our Region," said Sviluppumbria's CEO. "With Invitalia we enter a strategic collaboration to accompany the physical and material reconstruction of the municipalities and territories of the Apennines in Central Italy with important incentives for business investment. To this end, Sviluppumbria has already activated two new support desks in the municipalities of Norcia and Spoleto, accessible free of charge to businesses and potential beneficiaries of the facilities provided by the PNRR complementary fund. Starting next week, moreover, the support desks activity will be reinforced by a series of meetings that the Agency has planned together with the municipalities in the crater area to promote all the exceptional development opportunities offered by the substantial resources allocated by NextAppennino. The first meetings have already been scheduled with the municipalities of Arrone, Montefranco, Polino, Ferentillo, Sant'Anatolia di Narco, Scheggino, Monteleone di Spoleto, Poggiodomo, and Cascia, and more meetings are being defined to cover the entire area".

All the information on the calls and measures envisaged by Nextappennino is available on the Sviluppumbria website. Applications can be submitted through the nextappenino.gov.it website from 15 September to 15 October 2022, except for the call for large business investments, which will be open from 1 to 30 September, and the call for partnership initiatives for the development of public assets, which will be open from 1 to 30 October 2022.
