To contribute to the creation of a favourable environment for innovation in the Umbrian regional system, through participation in platforms and networks of technological specialization, the Regional Council has entrusted Sviluppumbria with the 2016-2020 Promotional Program - Innetwork.

In order to develop an ecosystem able to promote and strengthen interregional cooperation in the field of research and innovation and to encourage the application of the results achieved maximizing the effects on the economic-productive system, it is necessary to system and enhance the value of the clusters present in the regional territory stimulating their growth in a perspective of extra-regional and cross-sector collaborations.

Research and innovation are the key to increase competitiveness on the global market and to exploit its potential it is necessary to activate technology transfer processes in a perspective of open innovation. In fact, it is well established that companies that achieve greater competitiveness also owe it to the opening of their innovation process to the outside world that allows them to innovate technologies and accelerate innovation.

The creation of a closer relationship between the research, institutional and business worlds (the so-called "triple helix") is the decisive condition for the creation of technological innovation that must subsequently be translated into practice by structures specialized in technology transfer.

On the basis of these considerations Sviluppumbria’s Innetwork Project will carry out activities to:

• Support and accompany Umbrian companies to domestic and international networking for technology transfer and the development of operational partnerships between companies, research centres, academic spin-offs, etc., including through the operational actions promoted by the National Technology Clusters to which Sviluppumbria will belong as a formal representative of the Umbria Region.
• Support actions and links with national and EU production and regional research sectors in the context of the implementation of national and EU programs through information and support actions aimed at encouraging the involvement of Umbrian companies and research institutes in national and international projects/partnerships.
• Support the creation of networks of expertise and innovation in the interregional context of innovation specializations characterizing the territories involved, also through the role that will be played by an operational participation in the National Technological Clusters (Intelligent Factory and Smart Communities).
• Inform and communicate to Umbrian companies, aimed at raising awareness and involving Umbrian economic actors on innovation issues, also promoted by the National Technological Clusters, i.e. informing them on existing technological opportunities in order to strengthen and enhance innovation capacity.
• Organise seminars addressed to all companies and also to targeted groups of companies on specific topics of particular interest with the involvement of experts and with the connection to technology specialization platforms, National Technology Clusters and technology transfer actions.
• Provide technological intermediation to support companies and the knowledge system in the Technology Transfer process and in the identification of technological partnerships.
